When the Clay Madsen Recreation Center pool boiler went out a few weeks ago, it meant some chilly swimming in the indoor pool and most swimmers opted to stay dry. Indoor swim lessons and aerobic classes were cancelled due to the water temperature in the upper 60's.
The good news is the boiler is now fixed and the temperature in the pool today is 72 degrees and water aerobic classes will resume on Monday, November 24. Thank you to everyone who had patience while we we waited to get the needed parts in and everything fixed!

To say the Fall Fun Festival was a success is an understatement once you look at all the amazing pictures from the event. The free Halloween carnival for toddlers and preschoolers at Old Settlers Park was a blast. The kiddos all looked like they were having a great time. The event was made possible thanks to Round Rock Parks and Recreation, sponsor Alexan Palm Valley and with help from the Round Rock Library and Fire Department. Did you go to the Fall Fun Festival? What did you like most about the event? Give us feedback! www.flickr.com/photos/cityofroundrock/sets

The Fall Fun Festival, the City of Round Rock's free children's Halloween carnival is on Friday from 9 am - noon at Old Settlers Park. The theme is Dr. Seuss and something tells me the Cat in the Hat will be there. This event is not only fun for the toddlers and preschoolers who go to the event, it's fun for us to host as the kids are all dressed up in Halloween costumes and so excited as they win carnival games. The library will be reading books, children can climb into a real fire truck and even enjoy hayrides. Very cool. Last year we had toddler Elvis empersonators and even robots. I'm curious what this year will bring. Are you coming to the Fall Fun Fest? What's your Halloween costume?
Saturday was wonderful. We had a georgous sunny (but not too hot) day and more than 875 cyclists spent their Saturday with us to participate in the 21st Annual Outlaw Trail 100. It was a great time! We took more than 250 pictures which are on the city's Flickr page if you want to check them out! The start finish line moved south on Harrell Parkway this year and it worked out very well. Plus, we were right next to the RV show going on at the Dell Diamond so some cyclists went over to check it out too. Visit www.outlawtrail100.com for more information on the event
The Outlaw Trail 100 Cycling Tour is on Saturday, October 18 and we anticipate 1200 cyclists! We've changed the start/finish line this year to be in front of the Old Settlers Tabernacle which allows cyclists to park in the Dell Diamond parking lot - which will be so convenient!
This is a reminder that online registration ends Tuesday, October 14 at midnight. The only way to register on October 15-16 is at the Parks and Recreation Office or wait until October 17-18 and register at packet pickup with a $5 late fee. Don't let that happen! Register today! www.outlawtrail100.com Grab your bike and join us. With tour distances from 10 miles to 100 miles, there's a distance for everyone!
