The City of Round Rock’s Parks and Recreation Department presents the Outdoor Family Campout on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27, at Old Settlers Park.

Registration is required. Children ages 2 and under are free and do not need to register.
Registration fees are $150 per person and $15 for non-residents.
Registration fee includes two meals (hamburger/hot dog dinner on Friday and pancake breakfast on Saturday), instructional how-to sessions, use of demonstration equipment and a t-shirt for each paid participant. See Flier and Information Sheet for complete details and what to bring.
What to bring
You will need to provide all of your own camping equipment. We recommend bringing:
- Sleeping bags
- Reusable water bottle (water coolers will be available to fill bottles)
- Warm clothing
- Insect repellent
- Snacks and drinks (No alcohol)
No pets allowed. No electricity available. No shower facilities.
About the campout
It is said that a family that plays together stays together. Is there a better way to create lasting memories than through camping, fishing or other similar activities? We don’t think so; however, fewer families are enjoying these activities, the outdoors, and each other.
The Outdoor Family Campout can help provide basic outdoor skills necessary for an enjoyable and successful outdoor experience. More importantly, it shows families how fun the outdoors can be. The campout will lead into National Hunting and Fishing Day.
Activities include “Leave No Trace” tent maze sponsored by REI, family games, hayrides, a tent decorating contest, a campfire complete with smores, a Movie in the Park and more!
