Round Rock police late Tuesday evening charged a man suspected as having caused, then fled from, a collision on the night of September 25 in which motorcyclist Victor Luna was fatally injured.

Lyle Larue Earl, 25, of Round Rock was charged with Accident involving personal injury or death, a third-degree felony. Earl’s bond was set at $50,000.

Police sought the public’s help to locate the car involved in the wreck and identify its driver. Late Tuesday afternoon, detectives received an anonymous tip that a car matching the publicized description was possibly concealed in a garage in a neighborhood about a mile from the wreck scene.

Further investigation led police to 607-A Country Aire where they arrested Lyle Larue Earl, 25, for a municipal traffic warrant. Officers later executed a search warrant at the home and seized a white 2004 Chevrolet Impala that was locked in the garage. The car’s right side had considerable damage that linked it to the wreck with Luna’s motorcycle.

An arrest warrant charging Earl with the offense was executed at the Williamson County Jail late Tuesday night.

The case remains under investigation.
