International delegation explores breast cancer awareness, prevention and treatment
Seton Williamson hosts State Department Leadership Program event
Seton Medical Center Williamson hosted an international delegation of physicians, health care workers and representatives from breast cancer organizations on Monday, Oct. 27, at its Learning Center.
The delegation, which included participants from Mexico and Latin America, was invited to the United States under the Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. They will meet with teams of physicians, surgeons and representatives from breast cancer organizations here in Central Texas to discuss breast cancer awareness, research, prevention, screening and treatment and to share mutual challenges and strategies.
“Seton Medical Center Williamson was selected to host this round table discussion because of its urbanization and growth of its rural communities,” said Michelle Robertson, vice president and chief operating officer, Seton Medical Center Williamson. “By connecting with our medical professionals they are learning advances in breast cancer care and community outreach opportunities that they can take back to their prospective countries.”
Seton Medical Center Williamson is one of two Texas stops for the international delegation. During their two week stay in the United States, they have visited Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Charlotte, N.C., and will end their visit in Dallas.
