On Saturday, Nov. 22, the existing south bound entrance ramp to IH 35 near Sundance Parkway in the La Frontera shopping center will close and the newly constructed ramp will open. The entrance ramp is an elevated roadway that will allow traffic to enter IH 35 from the access road near the Hester's Crossing intersection. There will also be periodic lane closures along the IH 35 access road just south of Hester's Crossing as construction continues.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, TxDOT will open the south bound Collector Distributor which will bring traffic from the IH 35 access road just north of Hester’s Crossing to the access road adjacent to Lowe’s Home Improvement Store in La Frontera. The new Collector Distributor will allow southbound IH 35 traffic to bypass the Hester's Crossing intersection and exit directly to the access road.
The reconstruction of the Hester's Crossing Interchange in Round Rock began in June 2007. The first phase of construction included a new Hesters Crossing bridge and south to north U-turn bridge over IH 35. The new bridge and ramps are part of the broader plan to improve mobility at the Hester's Crossing interchange.
The Hesters Crossing Intersection project should be complete in the spring of 2009.
