City reschedules fireworks, Frontier Days festivities to July 16
Fireworks show now part of Movies in Your Park program

fireworksThe City of Round Rock has rescheduled the July 4th Independence Day Fireworks Celebration to Friday, July 16, due to rain and park conditions. The fireworks will now be a part of Time Warner Cable’s “Movies in Your Park” presentation of Planet 51 and The Spy Next Door at Lakeview Pavilion and Virg Rabb Pavilion at Old Settlers Park.

“Inclement weather caused a cancellation of the fireworks celebration and event festivities, but we still wanted to offer the citizens of Round Rock the fireworks display,” Parks and Recreation Director Rick Atkins said. “We hope that everyone will enjoy the fireworks in conjunction with the 'Movies in the Park' event and Frontier Days on July 16.”

The Movies in the Park event, fireworks and Frontier Days Celebration will take place at Old Settlers Park Lakeview Pavilion and the Virg Rabb Pavilion, 3300 Palm Valley Blvd. Guests may still watch the fireworks from anywhere within the park.

All the festivities begin at 5:30 pm. Free watermelon will be served by the Round Rock City Council members and the Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department. A pepper eating contest, a second Rubber Duck Race and the Sam Bass Shootout will also take place. At 8 p.m. skydivers will fly into the festivities. Fireworks will take place at dark with the Time Warner Cable “Movies in Your Park” presentation of Planet 51 and The Spy Next Door to follow.
