City names Michelle Cervantes new Library Director
Following a nationwide search, City Manager Steve Norwood has promoted Michelle Cervantes to be the new Director of the Round Rock Public Library, effective immediately. Cervantes replaces longtime Library Director Dale Ricklefs, who retired in December.
Cervantes had been Public Services Manager since June 2010. She held the post of Collection Development and Technical Services Manager from 2006 to 2010, and was Librarian II from January to March 2006.
“Michelle has proven to be a talented administrator and it is a testament to the high caliber of our library staff that we are able to promote from within,” Norwood said. “Our library is recognized for its innovation and customer service and I know Michelle will continue those traditions.”
Prior to working in Round Rock, Cervantes had been employed by the Teacher Retirement System of Texas in 2005 and The Colony Public Library from 2001 to 2005. She holds a Master of Science degree from the University of North Texas and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University.
““Over the past 30 years, Dale, the library staff and volunteers have built a solid reputation for excellence,” Cervantes said. “I’ll do my best to take this library to the next level and meet the needs of this dynamic community.”
