The Round Rock City Council hosted a presentation Thursday on an innovative concept for mass transit. The idea to use gondolas as a transit alternative in Central Texas was first put forth by Michael McDaniel and Frog Design in Austin.

Mayor Alan McGraw, who serves on the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (CAMPO) Transit Working Group, invited McDaniel to share the concept at a Council work session. CAMPO’s Transit Working Group is charged to “evaluate and provide input toward a regional high capacity transit plan for Central Texas and explore how its various components work as a system to fulfill the region’s transportation and future growth needs.”

McDaniel’s concept has been widely reported in the news media. Here is a sampling of reports:

More reports can be found on McDaniel’s personal website.
