2,500 to take part in the Muddy Miler Family Adventure

More than 2,500 Round Rock residents will conquer the third annual Muddy Miler Family Adventure this Saturday, May 3 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The Muddy Miler is a free themed adventure run offering the entire family more obstacles, more mud and more fun than your average run event. The obstacles are built around the entire lake at Old Settlers Park and will include mud elements sure to get every member of the family muddy with excitement.  The obstacles will include a Spillway Slide, Log Hurdles, Ice Pit, Belly Crawl, Rain Table, Muddy Bog, Muddy Monster Ramp, Moat Crossing, Final Assault and a branded back-drop for family pictures of a lifetime!

Immediately following Muddy Miler, residents will take part in the annual Round Rock the Boat Regatta. Round Rock the Boat Regatta features contestants who make boats out of cardboard and tape and rely on their inventions to keep them afloat as they race across the lake at Old Settlers Park. In its seventh year, the City of Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department anticipates more than 20 boats at the Regatta. The fastest boats have the opportunity to compete in the finals. All participants have a chance to win one of the following awards:

  • That can’t be made of cardboard! Award
  • Titanic Award—Most spectacular sinking
  • Fast and Furious Award—Best time
  • Who cares about the boat…we look good!
  • People’s Choice Award—Prettiest Boat … Doesn’t have to float.
  • Tiny Tim—Smallest boat finishing the race
  • Big Bertha—Largest boat finishing the race

Various other awards for youth and adults as well as boats powered by other means (oar, propeller, or sail) will also be presented at the event.

Residents can register for the Muddy Miler Family Adventure at RoundRockRecreation.com or by calling the Parks and Recreation Main Office at 512 218-5540.
