Volunteer Application (Word)
Since Victim Services staff is on-call 24/7 every day of the year, caring citizens of the community are trained to assist and lessen the staff’s after hours call out load. The Victim Services Volunteers serve week day evenings and on weekends by carrying a pager. They are ready to respond, as needed, to various calls.
Victim Services Volunteers must attend and successfullycomplete 30 hours of classroom instruction. The training includes topics such as:
- death and dying
- death notifications
- homicide
- suicide
- sexual assault
- crisis intervention strategies
- victim issues
- other topics.
Victim Services Volunteers are caring individuals willing to share their time, knowledge, and insights in order to assist those touched by tragedy.
Training Academy
The Round Rock Police Department Victim Services Training Academy is held periodically and is based on an as-needed basis. Individuals begin the process of becoming a volunteer by attending an interest meeting and completing an application. A thorough screening is conducted and applicants are then interviewed. Top applicants will be invited to attend the academy.
