Summer Reading Program Volunteer Application
The Round Rock Public Library has teen volunteer opportunities during our Summer Reading Program, which runs from June 4 to Aug. 4.
Volunteers man the SRP desk, logging reading levels and handing out prizes to children and teens. Other duties may also be assigned as needed including straightening and books and materials in the Children's area and Teen room. Volunteers earn a free t-shirt after their 2nd SRP volunteer shift.
The theme for the 2014 children's program is "FIZZ BOOM READ." The teen program for 2014 is SPARK a Reaction."
If you are interested in volunteering, please:
- Complete the online volunteer application by Saturday, May 10.
- Obtain a letter of recommendation if you are a new volunteer and bring it to orientation. The letter of recommendation should be on letterhead from a recognized organization such as a school or church. It should reflect the applicant’s skills and attitude.
The minimum age requirement is 13.
If there are a great number of applicants, it is possible that you may be put on a waiting list. Evening and weekend shifts are more difficult to fill, so if you are willing to work those shifts, there is a better chance you can join the program. Also, the earlier you fill out the application, the better chance you’ll have of getting the shift you want. If you are taking a vacation this summer, you will be responsible for finding your own substitute(s). We will provide you with contact details for other volunteers to help you do that.
If selected you will be required to attend one of the following orientation sessions:
- 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 2
- 10:30 a.m. to noon Tuesday, June 3
