A state of the art indoor sports facility for the Sports Capital of Texas
The Round Rock Sports Center is a flexible indoor sports facility with 6 basketball courts, 12 volleyball courts and more than 47,000 square feet of open, playable space. Its seating capacity is 1,300.
Built primarily with funds from the City’s Hotel Occupancy Tax, the $14.5 million facility's primary purpose is to draw tournaments and events as part of the City's Sports Capital of Texas tourism program.
A grand opening celebration was held Jan. 28, 2014.
The Round Rock Sports Center has been designed and is operated for organized team practices and league tournaments. It is not a walk-in facility like Clay Madsen Recreation Center. For booking information, call (512) 341-3125 or email email@example.com. Also, rates and more information is available at rrsportscenter.com.
With a full concession operation, locker rooms, a training room, LED scoreboards and three multi-purpose rooms, the facility can handle just about any indoor sporting event. In addition, it can host expos, meetings, speakers and concerts.
The local community can use the Sports Center as well for club sports team practices.
“We’re the Sports Capital of Texas and the new Round Rock Sports Center is a terrific addition to our first-class facilities that consistently attract sports tournaments from all over the state,” Mayor Alan McGraw said. “Having a state-of-the-art indoor venue will help us continue to attract tourism dollars to our city, and it’s a really special amenity available to people that live right here in the community.”
The Sports Center is staffed with City employees under the supervision of the General Services Department. The Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau will oversee tournament and event sales.
“I’m proud of the team that made this happen. It will come in on time and on budget and we’ll be opening the doors with a full schedule of events already booked and bringing new tourist dollars into our community,” City Manager Steve Norwood said. “This new venue is an investment the people of Round Rock can be proud of.”
The architect is Marmon Mok, and Chasco Constructors of Round Rock is building the facility.
