Please note that these hours do not apply to Brush/Mulch Recycling.


Recycling Center Accepts the Following Recyclables:

Paper - newspaper, magazines, phone books, junk mail, office paper and brown paper bags (no plastic bags, please).

Plastics (#1's and #2's) - these include milk, water and soda bottles and dyed plastics such as bleach and orange juice containers.  Please remove caps and lids.

Tin and Steel Products and Cans - labels may be left on.

Aluminum Products and Cans

Corrugated Cardboard

Fiberboard - cereal, cake and soft drink boxes, etc.

Old Cell Phones | DVDs and CDs | Inkjet Cartridges | Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Automotive Products - residential quantities only, business waste is NOT ACCEPTED.

  • Oil
  • Oil Filters
  • Antifreeze
  • Brake, transmission and power steering fluid
  • Car batteries
  • Gasoline - The Center can accept five (5) gallons or less and the gasoline must be in an approved gas container (not in a milk or other plastic jug).  Please hand material directly to a City attendant on site.  The gas container(s) will be returned if name and phone number are provided on the container(s).

These and any other unacceptable items may be taken to the Williamson County Landfill located in Hutto.  Call the landfill at (512) 759-8881.  For items that are in usable condition, contact Goodwill Industries at (512) 388-2911.

Got Paint?

Latex Paint - Open can and let dry.  Add cat litter to speed process or pour onto a wooden board.  When completely dry, toss in with regular trash.

Oil Base/Stain - Keep until next scheduled Household Hazardous Waste Day.

Free Compost!

Bagged leaves and grass clippings are accepted from Round Rock residents daily from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Recycling Center.

If you make your own compost at home, help yourself to our chipped leaf pile.  It is a great carbon source!

We currently have three working demonstration compost bins.  Compost is made from chipped leaves, grass clippings and horse manure and is made available to the public in small quantities.

Brush Recycling

The Parks and Recreation Department Urban Forestry Division recycles tree trimmings, branches, limbs and other parts of woody plants at the Brush Recycling Center at 310 Deepwood Drive.  Please visit the Parks and Recreation Department's page for information by clicking on the following link:  Brush Recycling Center or call (512) 218-5540.

Re-USE items

The Re-USE Building at the Recycling Center is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

This Building contains FREE re-usable products such as paints, pesticides, water sealer, automotive products, fertilizers, cleaners, etc.

All materials in this building are free; however, for liability purposes, residents must sign a waiver for all items taken.

Do NOT drop off materials!  City of Round Rock residents may come on a scheduled Household Hazardous Waste Day and drop off their household hazardous waste items.

Appliance Recycling

What can YOU do with your old washer, dryer or refrigerator??  Have it recycled!

Old washers, dryers, stoves and hot water heaters can be recycled at the City of Round Rock Recycling Center during normal business hours.  Any appliance that does or once did contain Freon, such as refrigerators, freezers or air conditioner units, CAN NOT be accepted at this location.

For pick-up service of appliances at your home or to recycle Freon related appliances, contact Round Rock Appliance Recycling at 903-6195 or go to www.appliancepickup.com.  There may be a fee charged for this service.

Working units may also be donated to any of the charitable organizations in the area.  Please call the respective organization(s) to inquire about program details and pick-up service.

Curbside Recycling / Trash Service for Residential Customers

The City of Round Rock contracts with Round Rock Refuse for residential trash service.  Curbside recycling service is available as a subscription service through Round Rock Refuse for a monthly fee.  Since recycling is pick-up only once per week, please contact Round Rock Refuse to determine which day recycling materials are picked up at your address.

Items accepted for curbside pick-up are newspapers, magazines, white office paper, cardboard, #1 and #2 plastics (milk jugs, clear and colored plastic bottles), and aluminum, steel and tin cans.  Please remove caps and lids from plastic bottles.  Please break down cardboard boxes and have them bundled.
