Championship Hearts Foundation and Seton Medical Center Williamson will offer free screenings for area athletes, ages 15-18, in an effort to identify Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in student athletes. Students participating in athletics, cheerleading, dance, marching band and other strenuous activities are encouraged to take advantage of this community service. (Fact sheet PDF)
The screen will be from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday April 25 at Seton Medical Center Williamson.
Students must have a signed parental waiver (PDF) in order to receive the screening. The form will also be available at the event.
There is no charge for screening, however a suggested minimum contribution of $15 is appreciated to help defray some of the costs and also to support the work of the Foundation.
