The Round Rock Tapestry Committee, with participation from the Round Rock ISD and support from the City of Round Rock, is presenting the 22st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday celebration.
The celebration includes a commemorative walk Saturday, Jan. 16, followed by a program at the Allen R. Baca Center for Senior and Community Activities, 301 W. Bagdad Ave.
The Commemorative walk begins at CD Fulkes Middle School, 300 W. Anderson Ave. Parade participants and marchers, led by a drumline or marching band from Round Rock ISD, will assemble at 1 p.m., and begin the march promptly at 1:30 p.m. The path of the march is east to Mays Street, south to Round Rock Avenue, west to Brown Street, and south to the Baca Center.
The march will also include a drive for food donations.
A program with speakers and entertainment will be held at the Baca Center beginning at 2 p.m. The Round Rock High School Color Guard will lead the parade. The program will include performances by students from Round Rock ISD, including the CD Fulkes Middle School Choir. Local artists Ms. Alvina Johns and jazz band The Soul Connection will also play.
A reception will follow immediately after the program at approximately 3:30 p.m.
The public is invited to participate by attending the walk bringing banners, and attending the program. Attendance is free of charge and all are welcome. Corporate sponsors include HEB.
