Arbor Day Tree Planting

The Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department will hold an Arbor Day Tree Planting at Kensington Park from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1.

Bring gloves and a willingness to work. We will plant 55 trees in Kensington Park north of the Dell campus. Volunteers will meet by the playground in the middle of the Park at 8:30 a.m. to sign in, hear welcoming remarks and an Arbor Day Proclamation. Planting begins at 9:00 a.m. sharp.

Volunteers will receive a free Arbor Day T-shirt, tree seedling and gift certificates for free mulch at the city's Brush and Recycling Center. To volunteer, please call 733-7625.

About Arbor Day
Arbor Day is America's National Tree Holiday, a day set aside to plant ceremonial trees, educate the public about the importance of trees, and honor the vital role trees play in our everyday lives. The brainchild of journalist Julius Sterling Morton, the first Arbor Day took place on April 10, 1872 in Nebraska. Today, National Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday in April.
