Round Rock residents identified Downtown Plaza Parks as a priority in the Downtown Master Plan and a number two priority in the Game Plan 2020 Parks and Recreation Master Plan and our Parks Development team has begun work on these projects.
This design charrette will be an opportunity for residents and local business owners to be involved in the actual design of the three plazas (see map). City staff and the design consultants will spend the meeting drawing multiple ideas and design concepts for the three plazas. The charrette format allows the residents and business owners to sit at a table with the design professionals and help them create a design concept for the plazas.
City Hall Plaza:
The first project is a design for the current green space located next to City Hall and the new ArtSpace offices.
Municipal Office Complex (MOC) Plaza:
The second project is the development of the green space behind the McConico Building and next to the Baca Center known as the Municipal Office Complex Plaza.
Downtown Green Plaza:
The third project is the development of the Town Green Space located near the iconic Round Rock Water Tower on Round Rock Avenue.
When completed, the plazas will offer a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The three parks will be connected with pedestrian-friendly streetscapes for all to enjoy. Some of the Downtown Plazas could feature interactive water features, art, beautiful landscapes, festival areas and more.
