The Penfold Theater Company will hold its first annual fundraising event A Marvelous Party at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 24 at Kindred Oaks estate in Georetown.
Guests will enjoy an elegant meal while live performers serve up musical treats by cherished musical theatre composers like Cole Porter, Noel Coward and the Gershwins. Music-lovers familiar with classics like "Funny Face," "I've Got Rhythm," and "Begin The Beguine" will be delighted by this sampling of songs from the 20s and 30s.
The evening will also include a live and silent auction to support Penfold's 2011-12 season, as well as its ongoing efforts to open a new performance venue in Round Rock.
The night's crooners include Robert Faires of the Austin Chronicle and seasoned song-man Jarret Mallon, who was on the national tour of "Hairspray," in addition to performers familiar to Penfold audiences like Sarah Gay (John & Jen), Nathan Jerkins (Going with Jenny) and Haley Smith (I Love You Because).
At the helm will be director Michael McKelvey, whose recent credits with the company took home the Best Musical prize at the Austin Critics' Table Awards two years running.
Dress is cocktail attire. Tickets are $65 each or $700 to reserve a private table for ten.
