A free Skin Cancer Screening will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin on the first floor.
Screening exams will be conducted by local dermatologists who are volunteering their time.
Screening is open to the general public at no cost. First come, first served.
University Medical Center Brackenridge is a member of the Seton Family of Hospitals. Screening Sponsors are the Austin Dermatological Society, Seton Family of Hospitals, American Cancer Society and American Academy of Dermatology.
Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers. When detected early and treated properly, even melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer is curable. More than two million cases of highly curable basal cell or squamous cell skin cancer will be diagnosed in the U.S. this year according to the American Cancer Society.
