Latinitas continues its series on empowering young Latinas through media and technology with a workshop focusing on building strong media savvy at the Round Rock Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 15.
The program, part of a new series of Saturday workshops for girls ages 9-15, brings parents/guardians (grandparents or other caretakers too!) and their daughters together to learn about new technologies and media careers.
The Parent-Daughter Workshops foster a space where both older and younger generations can explore media in a way that promotes bonding, literacy, and involvement within the family. Latinitas envisions this project as a way of creating communities that support young girls in their development as media makers.
The Parent-Daughter Workshops will be conducted in Spanish and English by Latinitas workshop facilitator, Andrea Zarate, where she will incorporate cultura y arte to encourage media literacy for girls and their elder family members.
