The Black Voice of Round Rock will host their second annual Black History program. This is a community celebration for Black History Month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007. The celebration will be held at the Performing Art Center, 5800 McNeil Dr. Austin, Texas 78729.
The theme of the program is "Honoring the Past, Celebrating the Future" and will feature performances by Round Rock ISD students and Community Groups. The Guest speaker will be Tina Green-Miles of Comerica Bank of Round Rock. The organization will receive a proclamation for this day from the city's Mayor Pro Tem, Alan McGraw. Special Guests will be recognized and Special awards will be given for winner of the essay contest and the Zeta's will present the Art contest winners.
Black Voice of Round Rock is a community-based organization made up of educators, business leaders and community members. The organization was organized in October, 2004 and incorporated in May, 2005 to foster the full inclusion of African-Americans, other minority groups and disadvantaged persons in every facet of our community, including education, civic leadership, health care and economic empowerment.
