Communication is happening outside of established lines. And organizations are exposed like never before. It is vital every organization understand how to, and gain confidence in, reaching modern audiences – where they are and in the ways they prefer to communicate and get information today.

The City of Round Rock, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce and the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Texas State University are hosting a seminar on Social Media from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, at the Round Rock Higher Education Center, 1555 University Blvd. We’ll have coffee, donuts and networking beginning at 8 a.m.

Social Media 101: New Tools to Connect with Your Customers, will be presented by Linda Zimmer, president and CEO of Marcom Interactive. Zimmer is a recognized expert at modernizing marketing, communications and branding for contemporary audiences and social trends. Marcom’s clients include Johnson & Johnson, Nike, Hyatt, Nokia and Taco Bell.

Zimmer will open the seminar with an executive overview on Social Media, and then lead a panel discussion with local experts. We’ll finish with an audience discussion of the impacts this rapidly emerging field can have on businesses, government and other organizations.

Panelists are Laura Thomas, corporate editor at Dell; Robert Quiqley, internet editor of the Austin American-Statesman; and Dr. Cindy Royal, a professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Texas State University at San Marcos.

The seminar is open to the public, but seating is limited. R.S.V.P. with Jolee Pekarek at the Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, 255-5808.
