The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is holding “Cinco de Meow,” a cat adoption event, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5. The shelter is located at 1855 S.E. Inner Loop in Georgetown.
The event is to encourage and promote awareness of animal adoptions between the Shelter and the public. In addition to adoptable animals, there will be information available on proper cat health and care. Raffle prizes and Mexican treats to celebrate Cinco de Mayo also will be given away.
The Regional Animal Shelter aims to increase pet adoptions and lost pet reclaims, assist animal control public safety efforts by providing a safe haven for strays and secure areas for dangerous animals, reduce the costs to each participating entity through a shared regional facility and emphasize humane care for lost, unwanted or displaced pets.
The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are always welcome.
To reach the shelter from IH-35, take Exit 259 and go east two miles. The shelter is located on the north side of the road just east of FM 1460.
