Round Rock is opening its first skate park, located at 1600 Gattis School Rd. behind the Clay Madsen Recreation Center, on July 20. The grand opening will feature a day of festivities starting at 6 p.m.
The Grand Opening Celebration was previously postponed due to weather conditions complicating the completion of the park and scheduling conflicts with other skating activities in the area; therefore, the new date for the event is July 20.
The Grand Opening events include a special dedication ceremony by Mayor Pro-Tem Alan McGraw, a demonstration by pro skaters and a skate contest with awards for Best Trick, Biggest Gap and more. Mustache Skateboards will provide prizes for the winners and local vendors will provide refreshments and giveaways to attendees.
