Schedule | Christmas Family Night Setup Map

The City of Round Rock rings in the season with the annual Christmas Family Night celebration on Friday, Dec. 14, in historic downtown Round Rock. The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a welcome from Round Rock Mayor Nyle Maxwell, followed by the illumination of the street with holiday lights. Then Santa makes his grand entrance in a horse-drawn sleigh.

During Christmas Family Night downtown historic Round Rock is decorated with small wooden houses which “house” various free games and activities. This free event includes activities for the entire family including live music, dancers, Cowboy Bunkhouse storytellers, candle-making, carriage rides, game booths, Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus and more.  Guests can also shop for holiday gifts at the Christmas Family Night market.

Children need to bring their “wish lists” for Santa Claus (pictures with Santa are only $1.) Plus, enjoy free hot dogs, popcorn, hot chocolate, and other refreshments, activities and snacks.  Shop arts and crafts in the Christmas Family Night market where vendors will display holiday gifts for sale.

In 2005, we started a new tradition. The tree topper on the Christmas Family Night tree symbolized an ideal or symbol for Round Rock – something significant that happened during the year that will have lasting effects on our community. In 2005, Mayor Maxwell lit the "candle of knowledge" in recognition of the Round Rock Higher Education Center. In 2006, we celebrated the prosperous year for the City of Round Rock with the “parcel of prosperity.” What will it be in 2007? Come out and see!

Enjoy performances throughout the evening from Connie Coyote and her Unicycle Horse Calamity Joe, Ballet Folklorico, Kinderdance, All-Stars Unlimited, Ridgeview Middle School Choir, Grace Presbyterian church and Stony Point High School Jazz Lab Band.

Children will enjoy pinata breaks scheduled at 6:45 pm for 4-7 year olds, 7:15 pm for 8-10 year olds, and 7:45 pm for 11-12 year olds. Numerous booths will feature activities and crafts for children from cookie decorating to candlemaking.

Christmas Family Night is organized by the City of Round Rock and made possible thanks to the help of the following community groups and organizations that donate their services to offer this fun and free event to the community:  Round Rock Noon Kiwanis, Palm House Museum Association, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, ZOI ORA FILOS, Delta Kappa Gamma- Kappa Lambda Chapter, Round Rock Fire Department, Round Rock Express Baseball Club, Round Rock Womens El Amistad Club, Sam Bass Youth Baseball, Round Rock Sertoma Girls Softball, Clay Madsen Recreation Center, Lone Star Aquatic Club, Round Rock Library, Round Rock Leader, Pop Warner, Black Voices of Round Rock, Apollo Composite Squadron Civil Air Patrol, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, Round Rock Christian Academy, Boy Scout Pack #254, Northeast Vineyard Church, YMCA, Ballet Folklorico, Carol’s Creations and Starbucks.

Free parking is available in the city hall parking garage, at the library and along side streets. The event begins at 6:30 pm.
