The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is looking for volunteers to help assist in a variety of tasks. The next orientation classes are scheduled for Thursday, October 4, 2007, at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. Classes are held at the Williamson County Animal Shelter, 1855 S.E. Inner Loop, Georgetown, in the community room located to the right of the shelter lobby. It is only necessary to attend one of the classes.
Depending on a volunteer’s level of time commitment and interests, the following positions are currently available: adoption assistant volunteer, lost and found volunteer, humane education volunteer, special event volunteer, public relations volunteer and some general volunteer areas.
The shelter wants all volunteers to enjoy their time spent at the shelter, so it is required that volunteers attend a mandatory orientation meeting for their safety as well as the safety of the animals.
The shelter has recently been reorganized and is under new management. Animal Services Director Cheryl Schneider, Kennel Manager Ethel Spence and Office Manager Linda Gunter are excited to welcome volunteers to the shelter and to build up the volunteer program.
