Don’t miss this chance to see the film at its only Round Rock showing and come see what Variety magazine calls “A much-needed examination of the collateral damage of illegal immigration … sensitive .. effective and emotionally potent.” Director Heather Courtney will be in attendance and answering questions following the film.
Courtney’s previous film "Los Trabajadores" (The Workers), which also screened at the Round Rock Library, told the story of Austin’s immigrant day laborers and the controversy surrounding the site where they wait for work each day.
“Letters from the Other Side” interweaves family's video letters carried across the U.S.-Mexico border by the film's director with the stories of four amazing women. Focusing on a side of the immigration story rarely told by the media or touched upon in our national debate, LETTERS offers a fresh perspective, painting a complex portrait of families torn apart by economics, communities dying at the hands of globalization, and governments incapable or unwilling to do anything about it.
