Wearing a helmet is the single most effective way to reduce bicycle-related fatalities. Yet, nationally, only about one in four children ages 4 to 15 years of age wear bicycle helmets when riding, and teen use of helmets is nearly zero, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention.

Take steps to improve your children’s safety with a free bicycle helmet and fitting at the Kids Bike Safety Expo from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, sponsored by the Seton Medical Center Williamson Pediatric Program. Additional activities include a complete road safety course by American Cycling Association, head trauma education, bicycle safety checks and adjustments by AJ’s Cyclery and photo identification cards for children and adolescents.
