Texas State University Round Rock will hold a free community discussion on College and Career Readiness and STAAR: An Update for Educators, Parents and Community Members beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31.

Learn about the Texas College and Career Readiness Standards and the new state-required student assessment program, the State of Texas Academic Assessment of Readiness (STAAR), which replaced the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) in 2012. Texas State faculty will discuss the rationale behind the change from TAKS to STAAR and what it means for our children and teachers.

The discussion begins with rereshments at 5 p.m. and presentations run from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m.
