The Devil's Highway by Luis Alberto Urrea
This is a true story about 26 Mexican men trying to cross the border into the United States. Library Director Dale Ricklefs said, "As Round Rock respondents selected this as the book they wanted to read and talk about this summer, it means it is an important issue for our citizens as well."
Luis Alberto Urrea, winner of numerous awards, has been inducted to the Latino Literay Hall of Fame. His book, The Devil's Highway, was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction and has been selected as a Best Book of the Year by The Los Angeles Times Book Review, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Arizona Repulic, and the Chicago Tribune.
