What is Neighborhood Planning?

Neighborhood plans are undertaken periodically to review the concerns of established neighborhoods. Often these concerns relate to aging common facilities, property maintenance, and issues that arise from growth outside the neighborhood, such as increased cut-through traffic.
The City has made it a priority to maintain the quality of its neighborhoods. Through Neighborhood Planning, City administrators and staff create a dialogue with residents to solve problems, enhance the neighborhood and decide how their neighborhoods will move into the future.
Round Rock Neighborhood Associations
The Mayor’s Office maintains a contact list of neighborhood associations and HOAs1 for its regular Presidents Roundtable meetings and for other issues that may affect the neighborhood. If you would like your organization to be added to the Mayor’s list, contact Joyce McCoy at 512-218-5401

1 What’s the difference between a Homeowners’ Association and a Neighborhood Association?
A Homeowners’ Association (HOA) is a legal organization that collects dues to maintain common facilities. It also has the power to fine property owners for violations of deed restrictions (often relating to maintenance). A Neighborhood Association is a purely voluntary residents’ organization with no legal powers, formed to advocate for neighborhood interests (and sometimes social functions). Some neighborhoods have neither an HOA nor a Neighborhood Association, and a few areas have both.
