No one injured in overnight fire at construction site

At 12:51 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, Fire Department units responded to a report of a grass fire behind the Lodge at Warner Ranch Apartments in southeast Round Rock. Crews responded to that location, but could not access the incident – which turned out to be a fire involving construction equipment nearby.

The Fire Department units arrived at the incident location, a construction site near the intersection of Texoma Drive and Palo Duro Loop, at 1:07 a.m. The fire had spread from a front end loader to a trailer and excavator parked side by side next to the front end loader.

No one was injured and value of the damaged equipment has not been determined at this time.

The last Fire Department units cleared the scene at 2:54 a.m.

The cause of the fire is undetermined but is under investigation by the Round Rock Fire Marshal’s Office.

Residents nearby reported hearing explosions at the incident site. The cause of the explosions is undetermined, but it is not uncommon for explosions to occur when heavy equipment is on fire.
