Scam alert: Beware phone calls about overdue utility bills - City of Round Rock

Scam alert: Beware phone calls about overdue utility bills

This week, we were notified of an individual who is calling businesses and claiming to be a “Utility Service Worker” with the City of Round Rock. The caller advises the customer of an outstanding water bill and requests credit card information to satisfy the large debt to avoid cut-off of service.

That isn’t how the City does business. We do not take credit card information at all when customers call us. Customers must key that information in themselves when they make a payment online or by phone.

Our Utility Billing Department uses an automated system to notify customers of an outstanding balance. Customers must always initiate payment.

Have a question about your account status? Contact Utility Billing at 512-218-5460.
