FREE World’s Largest Swim Lesson at Rock’N River Water Park

Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department to take part in FREE World’s Largest Swim Lesson at Rock’N River Water Park.

Residents are encouraged to join us THIS Thursday, June 20 at Rock’N River Water Park for the FREE World’s Largest Swimming Lesson event from 10am to 11:30am. More than 600 locations in 20 countries will be participating on the same day – residents will take part in a truly global event!

Registration takes place at Rock’N River starting at 9am. The FREE swim lesson will take place from 10am to 10:30am with FREE open swim until 11:30am. All participants will exit the pool at 11:30am so Rock’N River can open to the public at 12 noon.

The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson, created by the World Waterpark Association in 2010, is a global public relations event supported by aquatic facilities, waterparks, pools, swim schools, among others. The WLSL event serves as a platform to help the global aquatics industry work together to build awareness about the fundamental importance of teaching children to swim to prevent drowning. Swimming is a life-saving skill for children and a vital tool to prevent drowning, the second leading cause of unintended, injury-related death for U.S. children ages 1-14.

Research shows risk of drowning can be reduced by 88 percent if children participate in formal swimming lessons between the ages of 1-4. Yet, a survey conducted by the American Red Cross in 2014 found that more than half of Americans (54 percent) either can’t swim or don’t have all of the basic swimming skills.

Round Rock Parks and Recreation Department offer swim lesson for all ages and abilities. For more information and to register for classes, visit www.roundrockrecreation.com.
