After-school clubs, special events, and summer reading


Please Note: Check the calendar for occasional changes, special events or cancellations so you don’t miss any fun! We regularly host special events on RRISD early release days and school holidays. 

Rockin’ Kids Club (ages 5+)

Join us on Monday afternoons at 4:30 p.m. for rotating STEAM after-school activities from September – May. Preregistration is not required, unless you are bringing a group of six or more children. For group visits, please call the Children’s Desk at 512-218-3275. 

The regular Rockin’ Kids Club activity schedule is:

  • 1st Monday: Lego Free-Build
  • 2nd Monday: Art Club
  • 3rd Monday: Science Activity
  • 4th Monday: Game On!

Tween Programs (ages 8-12)

Love middle-grade fiction and graphic novels? The Tween Book Club meets the second Thursday of every month during the school year. Come to the library and create something awesome! The library hosts regular after-school maker activities. Interested in programming computer games?  Attend one of our Scratch programming classes. Please see the library calendar for exact program/club dates and times.

Summer Reading and Special Events

Special events for kids are held throughout the year and during the Summer Reading Program. We regularly host special events on RRISD early release days and school holidays. Events are posted on the library calendar and on the information boards within the library.  The Summer Reading Challenge takes place between June – August every summer.
