Baca Center Weight Room

Come check out the most up-to-date equipment at the Baca Center Weight Room. The weight room contains treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, machine weights and free weights. The weight room is open during the Baca Center’s regular business hours.  Participants must be 21 years or older to be eligible for a Baca Weight Room Membership.

New to the weight room and not sure how to use the fitness equipment? Join one of the Baca Center’s personal trainers Tuesday evenings at 5:30pm and Thursday mornings at 11:30am for orientation. Please call the Baca Center to confirm there will be orientation.

Fitness Classes

Fitness programs at the Baca Center require a Baca membership with the weight room OR CMRC/BACA combo to participate for free. If you do not have one of the listed memberships, classes are $3 each class. Please see the current Baca Buzz for most up-to-date classes.

Pairs training is designed to give participants an opportunity to exercise together with a family member or friend. This is a 30 minute class that occurs once a week for a month. Participants are encouraged to arrive early and warm up on a cardio machine or stretch to maximize the 30 minute training session. Find a motivated partner or stop by the center for more information. Register in advance, class will not take place if less than 2 are registered. For session information, please see the current Baca Buzz. Cost is $30/person for 4 classes.


Pickleball is a tennis-like game using a plastic perforated ball and paddle. It’s easy to learn and fun to play! For the games at the Baca Center, equipment can be checked out by members with their membership card at the front desk. This group meets each Monday, 1:00-4:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 8:00-11:00 a.m.


This workout is designed for individuals 50+ who need a less strenuous exercise class. Participants do low-impact chair exercises with hand weights while working on increasing flexibility, endurance, and strength. Members can sittercize Monday through Thursday, 10:30-11:00 a.m.


A Chinese martial art and meditative movement class designed to increase your sense of balance, cardiovascular fitness and joint flexibility. This program is offered by the Taoist Tai Chi Society every Friday, 10:00 a.m.


This weekly class is perfect for seniors who may have difficulty getting to the floor and back up in a regular yoga class. The chair provides support and stability, allowing the student to experience a yoga class where poses are easily accessible.  A chair yoga practice will benefit students in many of the same ways as a mat practice; improving flexibility, strength, circulation, range of motion, balance, posture, breathing and a calming of the mind. This class is beginner friendly and suitable for people with limitations. Class ends with a 5-10 minute guided meditation. Classes are held each Wednesday, 9:00-10:00 a.m. and cost is $38/4 week session. This class fills up quickly.
