Weight Room & Fitness Classes

Baca Center Weight Room

Come check out the most up-to-date equipment at the Baca Center Weight Room. The weight room contains treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, machine weights and free weights. Participants must be 21 years or older to be eligible for a Baca Weight Room Membership.

Monday-Thursday: 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m.
Friday:   7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Are you new to working out or just interested in learning how to use the machines in the Baca weight room?  Then this is the course for you! This 30-minute class will teach you the general rules of the weight room along with weight room etiquette. You will also learn proper technique for our machines. Please see the front desk or call (512) 218-5499 to schedule your orientation. 

The Baca Center believes that a healthy and active lifestyle is for everyone at every age. The Baca Center offers classes for their members throughout the day that are included in the weight room membership fees. Non-members must pay the visitor pass rate of $3/class. Please see the Baca Center front desk for current group exercise schedule and class guidelines.. Class participation is limited based on space & equipment. 

Adults age 50+ can get some one on one fitness with a certified personal trainer at the Baca Center. Our certified trainer will personalize a workout just for you and your physical limitations if needed. A Weight Room membership is required for personal training.  Schedule your consultation and register for personal training sessions at the Baca Center Front Desk.

If the large group classes and one-on-one training is not your thing, then try Small Group Personal Training! SGPT is designed to provide participants a non-intimidating environment that has the structure of group exercise but the individual experience of Personal Training. Groups have their choice of number of sessions; the meeting times and days are discussed between the small group and their personal trainer. RESCHEDULING IS PROHIBITED. This class is designed for those wanting more advanced chair style aerobic exercise. Participants must stand and exercise, using chair for support and assistance.  This class will feature more cardio, along with movement around the room. This class is open to all membership types. This class is designed for the beginner and those with limited mobility.  Participants must stay seated in their chair for the duration of the class. This class is open to all membership types. See Program Schedule for days & times.

Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. It can be played indoors or outdoors and is played with a paddle and plastic ball with holes. Games can be played as doubles or singles.  See Program Schedule for days & times.

A Chinese martial art and meditative movement class designed to increase your sense of balance, cardiovascular fitness and joint flexibility. First class is free and is offered by the Taoist Tai Chi Society at the Baca Center for adults 50+. Classes cost $3 for Baca members and $4 for non-members. See Program Schedule for days & times.

This program is perfect for persons who may have difficulty getting to the floor and back up. The chair provides support and stability in standing and seated positions, allowing the student to experience a yoga class where gentle backbends, forward bends, lateral stretches and twisting postures are easily accessible. Participants will benefit by improving flexibility, strength, circulation, range of motion, balance, posture and breathing. Suitable for people with limitations.
