Conservation Rate Calculator

REMINDER:  Tiered water rates start with the May bill.  Find out more details on the utility rates page.

Use this calculator to compare your water bill to what it could be during the peak summer months, May thru September, when the conservation rates are in effect.  Enter the “Total Consumption in Gallons” amount, found on your water bill, into the calculator above to determine how much you will be charged under the conservation rates.

The conservation rates are the tiered rates charged to customers during the peak summer months (May – September). These rates don’t generally impact the majority of our customers, only those who use more than 18,000 gallons of water in one month, approximately 25 percent of residential users.

The standard volume rate is $2.49 per 1,000 gallons, however, during the peak summer months the standard rate is charged for usage up to 18,000 gallons. Any usage above 18,000 gallons is charged an increasingly higher rate, as outlined below.

The tiered water rates for a typical residential home (5/8 inch meter):

  • Tier 1 –  up to 18,000 gallons / rate is $2.49 per 1,000 gallons
  • Tier 2 –  18,001-24,000 gallons / rate is $3.11 per 1,000 gallons
  • Tier 3 –  24,001-30,000 gallons / rate is $3.74 per 1,000 gallons
  • Tier 4 –  30,001 + gallons / rate is $4.98 per 1,000 gallons

The average residential customer in Round Rock uses about 13,000 gallons a month during the peak summer months.

The base fee for residential customers with a 5/8 inch meter is $14.69.
