Enrollment open for Round Rock Citizens Police Academy

Gain a behind the scenes look at RRPD

***UPDATE: Application Period is now closed.***

The Round Rock Police Department is conducting open enrollment for the Citizens Police Academy, a 12-week educational opportunity that gives participants a behind the scenes look at the many functions of the police department.

The Citizens Police Academy is a hands-on course where participants will drive a police car in an obstacle course, go to a shooting range, work a mock crime scene and more. Citizens will meet officers from every division: K9 Unit, Training and Recruiting, Dispatch, SWAT, Hostage Negotiations, Crime Scene, Evidence, Patrol, School Resource Program and Criminal Investigations.

Classes are held from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday at the department, 2701 N. Mays St. The course concludes with a graduation ceremony and dinner. Space is limited. The fall 2019 class will start on Sept. 3 and graduation ceremonies will be held on Nov. 20.

Graduates of the program are eligible for additional training and volunteer opportunities, such as Citizens on Patrol, as well as membership in the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA).
