It’s Star Wars Reads Month

Remembering Star Wars events from the before-times, sigh–have a smile with us here with the Star Garrison, and here and here and even here with RRFD, and here with our #SummerOfSpace
If you’re a Star Wars fan, October is a great time to connect with your library

Libraries and booksellers traditionally host a Star Wars Reads Day sometime during the month of October.

With the 10th anniversary of Star Wars Reads Day, we are celebrating all month long!

Head on over to starwars.com to find officially branded activities. You can download a packet that has everything from finger puppets and coloring pages to a recipe for blue Bantha Milk Hot Chocolate, mmmm!

Round up your family and friends for a private reading challenge, with reading logs, nametags, and decorations featuring The Child.

Find books, eBooks, comics, eComics, and eAudiobooks, movies, music, and more at your Library!
See a display of Star Wars-themed items built with LEGO© bricks
Sneak peek at the Star Wars exhibit in the downstairs display case. Hat tip to local LEGO© artist Cameron Mauldin for sharing these amazing constructions with the community!
The Lone Star Saber Academy brings lightsaber lessons to an outdoor Rockin’ Kids Club

Monday, October 11, at 6 p.m., the Library’s Rockin’ Kids Club welcomes the Lone Star Saber Academy to a special, outdoor activity for students in grades K – 5.

We’ll meet across the street in Prete Plaza for a demonstration.

Afterwards, we’ll take turns learning light saber skills in small groups.

Feel free to hang out and watch the other groups, enjoy the costumes, and chat with fellow Star Wars fans.

The Lone Star Saber Academy volunteers have developed their own character and clothing, inspired by the Star Wars universe. Feel free to come dressed as if you, too, are from the Star Wars universe.
