Gattis School Road Segment 3
This project is a part of the Transportation Master plan. Proposed improvements for Segment 3 include: widening the existing four-lane roadway to a six-lane major divided arterial, pedestrian improvements, bicycle enhancements, right and left turn bays at A. W. Grimes Boulevard and Double Creek Drive. Median improvements to improve traffic flow and enhance safety include a raised center median and median openings at Southcreek Drive and Joyce Lane.
The design of the project has been completed and the project was bid on February 27, 2024. The low bidder was Cash Construction and a Notice to Proceed was issued to them on August 26, 2024. The actual construction work began on the 28th of August. The contractor continues with the first phase of the project and expected to last until early Spring. The total project timeline is approximately 2 years.
Project Update: August 2025
The Gattis Segment 3 Project had a Notice to Proceed to the contractor on August 26, 2024. The contractor began work in September and has progressed through the phases and they are making very good progress.  The intersection of AW Grimes and Gattis is completely concrete with medians and islands poured as well. They continue to work on curb and gutter and driveways at various locations. The Double Creek intersection on the south side continues to be completely closed for the last of the work there. The waterline and the large boxes for the storm sewer have been tie-in. The final concrete pavement will go down in the next two weeks, and that will allow the opening of Double Creek to the south. The contractor continues to work along the corridor and work at Windy Park continues with storm sewer and the changing of the alignment of Windy Park to line up with the new entrance to the Clay Madison Center. If we maintain the current schedule final paving will be after the first of the year weather permitting.
