Join the Williamson County Historical Commission for a fascinating evening as we raise a glass to our shared history! This edition of A Toast to Our Past features Dr. Clark Wernecke, who will share groundbreaking insights into the Gault Archaeological Site—one of the most significant Paleoindian sites in North America. Dr. Wernecke weaves a delightful tale of human evolution sharing information gleaned from his three decades long career as a researcher, educator and archeologist. Discover how the findings from Central Texas are reshaping what we know about the earliest people to inhabit the Americas, and enjoy an evening of history, conversation, and community.

Dr. D. Clark Wernecke had a successful career in business before returning to school for Archaeology. With an MBA as well as a PhD in Anthropology Dr. Wernecke has specialized in organizing and administering large projects. He retired in 2022 as director fo the Prehistory Research Project at the University of Texas at Austin and as Executive Director for the Gault School of Archaeological Research. He has worked on projects throughout the United States, Mesoamerica and the Middle East.
