June 7, 2023 @ 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm
This event is fully registered.
Build a better community this summer!
The Round Rock Public Library invites summer readers, ages 8-12, to volunteer at the library. Participants will be assigned a set of shelves or areas of the library to “adopt” in June and July. This orientation, located in the second-floor youth program space, is required to participate in the Adopt-a-Shelf volunteer program.
Those who complete this orientation and their volunteer service will be invited to our special end-of-summer volunteer-only Austin Reptile Show on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 6:30 pm.
Adopt-a-Shelf Volunteers:
- Take responsibility for a certain area of the library by dusting, straightening, and keeping shelves in order.
- Model positive behavior for younger library visitors.
- Discover and share books you might have never noticed before.
Please Note:
Participants must visit the library and maintain their assigned area at least four times during June and July to attend the end-of-summer volunteer-only Austin Reptile Show. Volunteer visits may occur any time during library hours between June 8 – July 31, 2023, the dates of the Summer Reading Challenge. A responsible adult must accompany Adopt-a-Shelf volunteers during their visit.
Space is available on a first-come / first-serve basis and online preregistration is required. Only participating attendees need to register. Those who arrive more than five minutes late may forfeit their space(s). Registration starts Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 9 am. Participants will earn a certificate for completing this program, however, participants are not able to earn community service hours for this volunteer program.
