Adulting 101 For Teens – Cancer Basics: Causes, Treatments, and more (ages 13-18) (preregistration)

Welcome to our series designed to help teens develop life skills and knowledge to transition to adulthood.

In this session we will discuss all things cancer. Topics covered include:

  • What do we know about the causes of cancer?
  • What is cancer treatment like and how does it impact individuals, their families and friends?
  • How can you support individuals going through cancer treatment?
  • And what lifestyle changes can you make now to help prevent cancer?

Speaker bio: Dr. Rosaleen Bloom is an Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing at Texas A&M University. She earned her Bachelor of Science (BSN) from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has worked for over 20 years in oncology nursing caring for pediatric and adult patients.
