This Civil Service commission is established and mandated by Ch. 143 of the Texas Local Government Code related to the Round Rock Fire Department. The Commission investigates and reports on all matters relating to the enforcement of Ch. 143, adopts rules that prescribe cause for removal or suspension of firefighters, in addition to other rules under Ch. 143. The Commission is also responsible for entrance and promotional exams and determine what questions will be included on exams as well as posting promotion lists.
The Commission meets on an as needed basis.
Beginning April 1 and continuing until further notice, the City will be implementing videoconferencing (powered by Zoom) for public meetings that are subject to the Open Meetings Act, in order to advance the public health goal of limiting face-to-face meetings (also called “social distancing”). Please note that the 3-minute time limit to speak is still in effect and will be enforced.
