Salon at Wildfire Emily Collins on O. Henry and the Art of the Pun

O. Henry may have written his most famous stories while living in New York, but Texas is where he honed his writing skills, earned his creative chops, and nurtured his love for language. In this presentation, Emily Collins will discuss the Austin-based passion projects that sparked O. Henry’s creativity, and the nearly 50-year-old annual pun competition that is dedicated to his legacy as a wordsmith and storyteller. The 48th Annual O. Henry Museum Pun-Off World Championships will be held on May 10, 2025 in Brush Square Park, behind the O. Henry Museum, from 10am-6pm. No ticket or RSVP is required.
