Reading Adds Up (ages 5-12) (preregistration)

Students from Texas State University Round Rock’s Teacher Education program will host a fun-filled afternoon of math and literacy. These future teachers will read a variety of children’s stories, and then explore math concepts related to the story with kids. Adult guests are welcome to ask questions and learn strategies.

This event is most appropriate for children ages 5-12. Sessions will run continuously, so you may join and leave at any time during the two hour event.

Tween Book Club (ages 8-12) (preregistration)

The Round Rock Library Public Library will host a tween book club on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Tweens are invited to meet virtually and discuss the graphic novel “Amulet: The Stonekeeper“.

Books will be available for library pick-up for all registered attendees.

While book club selections are chosen specifically for tweens, parents may still wish to review the content for appropriateness for his/her child. For more information, please contact the children’s reference desk at 512.218.3275.

Scratch Programming with Fun 2 Learn Code (ages 10-14) (preregistration)

The Round Rock Public Library and Fun 2 Learn Code will host Scratch computer programming classes for kids / teens age 10-14. Participants will build a fun game as they learn to code using Scratch, a visual programming language for kids designed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  

Please Note: Online preregistration in required. Online preregistration starts Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 9 am.  Class size is limited to 10 students.  If you cannot attend, please cancel your reservation via Eventbrite or call 512-218-3275. 

 

Virtual Storytelling Workshop (ages 8-12) (preregistration)

Down South Word of Mouth will be presenting a virtual interactive storytelling workshop at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 23, 2020. Tweens, ages 8-12, may preregister for a storytelling workshop intertwined with improv.

Down South Word of Mouth merges the art of storytelling with fun interactive games. By intertwining the creation and performance of stories, we enable friends, families, and neighbors to learn more about one another in a class full of fun and surprises!
