Police investigate attempted child abduction

At 7:52 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, Round Rock Police responded to Old Town Elementary, 2200 Chaparral Drive, in reference to an attempted abduction reported by school administrators. The child stated he was approached by several males in a newer model silver colored four door truck. The occupants told the student to get into the truck, but the child did not comply. The child continued to school on his bicycle and informed a teacher of what happened. The males were described as white and between 20 and 30 years of age. This case is currently under investigation.

Officers have increased presence and patrol in the area of Old Town Elementary as well as other schools. Police encourage parents to talk with their children about what to do if they are approached by a stranger. Running away, going to a safe place and telling an adult so it can be reported to police is the right thing to do.
