A new state law allowing a person who is licensed to carry a handgun to openly carry a holstered handgun goes into effect on Jan. 1.

The Police have created an Open Carry informational page with frequently asked questions and answers about the new law.

Round Rock police, along with Georgetown police and the County Attorney, hosted a public forum on Dec. 21 to present information and answer questions about the new law.

The Texas Department of Public Safety also has information and links about the new law.
