Directions

  • Use any canvas or paper you have at home, watercolor paper works great too!
  • Choose an animal to focus on while you create. You can use a photo for reference or draw from a live model. If you don’t have a pet, pick an animal you’d love to have; mythical creatures like unicorns or dragons are welcome.
  • Start by lightly sketching your pet in pencil on your canvas or paper.
  • Once you’re happy with your sketch, bring it to life with color. Use any materials you like, such as acrylics, watercolors, colored pencils, graphite, pastels, pens, or markers. Try mixing different media to make your artwork more vibrant and unique.
  • Paint or draw a background.
  • When you’re finished, enjoy your masterpiece and share your pet portrait with others.
