Citizens Police Academy accepting applicants for upcoming session

The Round Rock Police Department is conducting open enrollment for the Citizens Police Academy, a 12-week educational opportunity that gives participants a behind the scenes look at the many functions of the police department.

The Citizens Police Academy is a hands-on course where participants gain an insider perspective on the realities of life as a police officer through participation in activities such as patrol scenarios, a SWAT demonstration and more.

Classes will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays March 8 through May 24 at the Round Rock Public Safety Training Center, 2801 N. Mays St. Space is limited.

Graduates of the program are eligible for additional training and volunteer opportunities, such as Citizens on Patrol, as well as membership in the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (CPAAA).
